SEND Inclusive Adventures
Outdoor education provider, PGL is making adventure more accessible with a new initiative ‘SEND Inclusive Adventures’.
The programme is designed to support groups of young people with additional needs. It aims to address barriers to learning for the 1.7m children in England with SEND.
Michelle Evans, Director of Product & Marketing at PGL Beyond says:
“At PGL we firmly believe that outdoor adventure is for everyone, and we are committed to unlocking the potential in all young people so that they have the same opportunities to explore, discover and grow.
“The chance to shape brighter futures for groups who are neurodivergent or have learning and physical disabilities and other SEND or ASN requirements drives us as we know how much this will develop their confidence in other aspects of life.”
PGL’s SEND Inclusive Adventures programme, has been developed in collaboration with teachers and with Aspris and Unity Multi Academy Trust, both of which focus on specialist education and care for children and young people with SEND, to ensure every single trip is flexible and built to suit the needs of each individual group.
PGL also drew on the experience of Bendrigg Trust, a specialist outdoor education provider, who provided its staff with training on delivering outdoor activities for people with disabilities.
Under the progamme, schools looking to book a SEND Inclusive Adventure will have dedicated SEND and ASN advisors on centre, tailored multi-activity programmes as well as adaptive equipment, quieter meal and shop times and more relaxed activity timings.
Nancy O’Regan, Chief Operating Officer for Education at Aspris says
“Every child is an individual, so flexibility is essential when supporting pupils with special educational needs.
“At Aspris, we see the potential in every young person and adapt our approach to help raise it. Having an offering that can really be bespoke and individualised to the needs of our pupils is really beneficial and supportive, and allows us to consider residentials in a way we didn’t think was possible.”
PGL’s SEND Inclusive Adventures are available to book now and will be in place from Summer 2026.
